Cryptocurrency Cold Storage Guide
A vendor-neutral explanation of how cold storage works, how the wallet models differ, and when an M-of-N setup is worth the added complexity.
What cold storage is
Keeping the keys that control your funds on something that is not connected to the internet, so that compromising an internet-facing system is not enough to move the assets. Hot wallets stay convenient for daily use; cold storage is where a position is meant to sit.
Why it changes the odds
The overwhelming majority of successful attacks reach keys through an internet-connected system — an exchange account, a browser extension, a machine with malware on it. Removing that path removes the category of attack, though not the ones that involve you, your seed backup, or physical access.
How to do it properly
The guide covers generating keys on a machine that has never been online, verifying addresses before sending, backing up the seed so it survives fire and flood without becoming readable by the wrong person, and testing recovery before it matters.
Where XColdPro fits
XColdPro applies this model in software on hardware you supply, so the isolated environment can be built and replicated without buying a dedicated device for each copy.
