BootVault Frost — Essential Air-Gapped Cold Storage
The essential XColdPro edition: air-gapped cold storage with AES-256-GCM encryption across all 22 supported networks.
What Frost covers
Frost is the edition focused on the core job: creating wallets, importing seeds, and sending and receiving across the supported networks from an air-gapped machine. It leaves out the operational-security protocols that HellBound and Nyxor add, and keeps the workflow to wallet management and offline signing.
The same encryption as every edition
Wallet material is stored under AES-256-GCM, the authenticated mode specified in NIST FIPS 197, so tampering with stored data is detected rather than silently accepted. Frost carries the same cryptographic foundation as the higher editions; what changes between editions is the protocol layer above it, not the cipher.
Seed and key handling
Seeds follow the BIP39 standard, with 12 to 24 word mnemonics and entropy verification on generation and restore. Keys stay encrypted at rest and are decrypted only in memory for the moment a transaction is signed, and volatile data is cleared when the application shuts down.
Offline by default
There is no network synchronisation, no telemetry and no remote server in the workflow: the edition is designed to run fully air-gapped, with only unsigned and signed transaction data crossing the boundary.
Where it sits in the range
Frost is the entry point into XColdPro and the foundation the other editions build on. HellBound adds emergency and inheritance protocols on top of it, and Nyxor adds the complete protocol stack; a licence can be upgraded later without changing wallets.
Platforms
Windows and macOS are supported today. A Linux build is announced as coming and is not yet available.
